This past weekend I finally managed to leave the city of Sydney by venturing a whole hour and a half west into the Blue Mountains. Rav and I rented a car - I drove and Rav co-piloted – and headed off post-work Friday. Driving went surprisingly smooth considering my spatial perception was slightly off from driving on the opposite side of the car and road. I definitely found myself driving on the rumble strips for a fare portion of the trip.
We stayed at a lovely B&B in Wentworth Falls with an amazing view of the mountains off our deck and freshly cooked breakfast each morning. Upon arrival at 9 pm our first view was of a star filled sky, ahhh the countryside sans light pollution.
We hiked the next morning (a solid and somewhat painful 4 hours) with our chosen trail ranging from really steep staircases, to rainforests and waterfalls to hot/dry cliffs overlooking the valley below. All gorgeous, and after which a siesta with 'four wedding and a funeral' was much needed. Later on we had a late lunch and ventured around Leura (cute town), before making it to the Three Sisters (famous rock formation) just in time for sunset. Lara F
